A Voice for Every Feline
Joyce’s Voice for Cats is a 501c3 non-profit run entirely by dedicated volunteers. We are committed to raising vital path-to-wellness funds for life-saving spay/neuter surgeries, essential vaccinations, and comprehensive veterinary care including microchipping and ear tipping. Our compassionate mission focuses on humanely stabilizing the local cat population to prevent the suffering of strays and reduce shelter euthanasia. Through our targeted Trap-Neuter-Return initiative and our nurturing foster-to-adoption program for friendly felines, we provide the support necessary to ensure every cat and kitten can find safety in their forever home.

Our Mission
Our mission is to raise funds to pay for the spay/neuter of cats, provide vaccines/necessary vetting, ear tipping, placing of microchips, support families struggling to pay for spay/neuter, and to adopt out social felines into forever homes. JVC’s efforts help control the feline population in a humane manner and stop the needless suffering of homeless animals and euthanasia at shelters. Funds raised support our Trap-Neuter-Return program for non-social kittens/cats along with their on-going support. Funds also support the fostering of social cats and kittens so that they may find their forever homes.

Trap Neuter Release
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a comprehensive management strategy for feral and community cat populations, involving the systematic trapping, sterilization, and subsequent return of cats to their original habitats. The primary objective of TNR is to mitigate feline suffering and reduce shelter euthanasia rates by curbing the undesirable behaviors and health risks associated with unsterilized populations. This methodology is widely recognized as a more ethical and effective alternative to traditional trap-and-euthanize or relocation tactics, focusing on long-term population stabilization.
Non-sterilized feline populations naturally expand until they reach the carrying capacity of their environment, as determined by available sustenance and shelter. A single female feline can reach reproductive maturity as early as four months of age and may produce 3 litters per year, potentially resulting in twenty or more offspring annually from a single breeding pair. Historical data indicates that removing cats through euthanasia often triggers a vacuum effect, where new individuals migrate into the vacated territory and continue the breeding cycle. In contrast, returning sterilized cats to their colonies ensures that remaining resources are utilized by non-breeding individuals, thereby inhibiting the arrival of new, fertile cats.
Furthermore, the JVC TNR initiative provides significant public health and animal welfare benefits beyond population control. Every cat & kitten processed through our program is vaccinated against vital diseases such as rabies and Panleukopenia. Sterilization also significantly reduces the prevalence of territorial disputes and spraying, which decreases the transmission of viruses like FIV and FeLV. Consequently, managed colonies exhibit greater stability and a markedly improved standard of health. Participating felines also receive a universal ear-tip for identification and a microchip for secure identification. For more information on why JVC ear-tips its cats and kittens please read the following article.
JVC maintains a commitment to the ongoing welfare of these colonies by facilitating consistent nutritional support and monitoring. For additional technical resources on TNR efficacy, please consult the Humane World for Animals and the ASPCA websites.
