Our Founding:
The legacy of Joyce’s Voice for Cats is rooted in a lifelong devotion to animal welfare. Growing up in a household where no creature was turned away, Joyce and her siblings provided a sanctuary for everything from dogs, cats, and ponies to exotic animals in distress. This early commitment to ending animal suffering evolved into a lifelong calling.
For over four decades, Joyce has been a fierce advocate for feline welfare in the Ewing, Trenton and Lower Bucks communities. Recognizing that local abandonment and a lack of accessible spay/neuter resources led to heartbreaking euthanasia rates, she took direct action. Joyce mastered humane trapping, secured veterinary care, and established localized feeding networks, funding these efforts herself to ensure no cat was left behind. Her reputation as a compassionate strategist led Joyce to serve on numerous boards and consult for over ten rescue organizations across New Jersey and Pennsylvania. A hallmark of her career was advocating for Ewing’s historic transition to a no-kill community in the early 2000s.
Driven by a vision to streamline resources and maximize impact, she established Joyce’s Voice for Cats (JVC) as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2013. Her mission was clear: eliminate the financial and logistical barriers to feline population control through humane, no-kill solutions.Today, JVC has transformed the lives of thousands of cats. Through our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs, comprehensive medical care including vaccinations and microchipping, and a dedicated foster network, we provide a bridge to forever homes for socialized cats and dignity for community colonies. Supported by a tireless volunteer base, a network of skilled veterinarians, and partners like PetSmart, we remain committed to education and life-saving intervention.
At Joyce’s Voice for Cats, we continue to honor our founder’s promise to speak for those who cannot, ensuring every cat receives the compassion they deserve.
Stories from the Rescue World
JVC in Action
In early 2025, Joyce's Voice for Cats (JVC) responded to an urgent plea from an industrial site in Lower Bucks County where a feline colony had reached a breaking point. While well-intentioned workers had been providing food for years, the absence of spay and neuter services led to an overwhelming population surge. Our investigation revealed a devastating scene: over 70 cats and kittens were suffering from severe malnutrition, untreated injuries, and contagious illnesses. Many adult males bore the scars of territorial fighting, and the youngest kittens were struggling to survive. JVC immediately launched a comprehensive rescue operation to stabilize the colony. Every cat captured underwent a thorough veterinary assessment, including sterilization, vaccinations, microchipping, and necessary medical treatment. For those requiring intensive recovery, we provided specialized medical foster care, while socialized cats transitioned into our adoption program to find loving homes. Healthy feral cats were returned to a safer environment with a new, structured support system. We established a permanent feeding schedule, installed weatherproof shelters, and recruited onsite staff to provide ongoing monitoring and care.Today, the transformation is remarkable. JVC continues to maintain presence at the site to ensure any new arrivals are promptly localized and treated. The cycle of suffering has been broken: there are no more sick kittens, and the resident cats are thriving, healthy, and well-fed. This massive undertaking required months of dedicated volunteer labor and significant resources. It is a powerful example of what is possible when community compassion meets action, and it only happens because of the life-saving support from donors like you.
